The Great Wall and the Adirondack Express

While I was in China visiting the Great Wall, I also enjoyed catching up on a recent issue of the Adirondack Express.

The other side of the road--a new view for Julie, Chris, Hannah, Andrew and Parker

Well, it's official. Julie and I are now property owners at Limekiln Lake. On Thursday, November 8, we closed on a camp that has been in the the Hoke family since 1932. As many of you know, I have been coming to Limekiln every summer since the year I was born in 1965. My grandfather, Marvin Gibson, first brought my mom, Julie Mary Gibson Biehn and my uncle, Marvin Edward Gibson and my grandmother, Evelyn Gibson, to the lake around 1948. My parents, Ken and Julie Biehn, retired to Limekiln in 2007 and live in a camp down the beach. Julie (yes, my wife's name is the same as my mom's but we don't have space to analyze that here) and I first met on the beach at Limekiln in 2002--thanks to our friend Jill. Another one of Julie's friends, Michelle, married one of Chris' childhood friends, Stu, from Limekiln. You can see how this is going to be a complicated blog!

On the right is our guest camp. Accordingly to Uncle Eddy's lore, one of the camps was originally horse stables. Because some (hopefully many) will be our guests here in the near future we're not saying whether it's the guest camp or the main camp that housed the horses.

Here is the view of the Lake from our camp. As you may have noticed we have not settled on a name for the new place. It is a tradition in the Adirondacks (as in many vacation spots) to name your camp. Hence, our first challenge to you, the reader. Please help us name our camp by posting a comment. The winner will receive a gourmet meal for two at the lake during their next visit!
